According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States. Because of that, over 50% of Americans have been impacted by suicide in some
way. Following the suicide of a friend, Laura Seitz wrote about the questions that followed and the process of grief in a song called “Aftermath.”

“The song came almost like an epiphany after the loss of a friend who loved music,” Seitz noted. In the summer of 2021, Seitz reached out to Minnesota-based musician and creative coach, Mary Bue, to gain
insight on the songwriting process. The two collaborated to create a moving, vulnerable song. It was recorded with engineer Tom Herbers at the urging and with the support of Seitz’s mentor Paul Grunau.
“In my experience, there is almost a sense of shame when someone dies by suicide, but I think that can dissipate by talking about it. My hope, with this song, is that people will feel less alone in the aftermath
of suicide.”
The heart-wrenching song, performed by Mary Bue, will debut on March 11, 2022 at 7pm CST. Proceeds from the virtual concert will benefit the MN Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
whose mission is to Save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. ❤️
